The Challenge
Groundworks contractors regularly face rising concrete costs, part load charges and downtime while waiting for deliveries. On smaller pours, traditional ready mix often means paying for more concrete than needed, losing time on site and tying up labour and machines while waiting. EDT Groundworks were looking for a more efficient way to handle concrete on site, especially for regular small to medium pours where waste and delays quickly add up.
The Solution
EDT Groundworks introduced the 200Ltr PROMIX concrete mixing bucket, mounted to their Develon DX 63 excavator, allowing concrete to be mixed exactly where and when it was needed. This removed the reliance on ready mix deliveries and gave the operator full control over mix volumes and timing.
The Results
Based on real world use and figures provided by Robert at EDT Groundworks, the savings were immediate and measurable.
200Ltr PROMIX Concrete Mixing Bucket
Average saving of £40 per cubic metre
Saving of approximately £8 per mix
The bucket pays for itself after just 89 cubic metres of concrete
With an average cycle time of 3 minutes per mix, the PROMIX 200 Ltr effectively pays for itself after approximately 22.5 hours of mixing time.
Additional Savings Not Included in These Figures
The calculations above are based purely on direct material savings. They do not account for further cost reductions such as:
Time saved through faster, on demand mixing
Eliminating downtime while waiting for concrete wagons
Avoiding part load and short load delivery charges
Reduced waste from unused concrete
Improved job scheduling and flexibility
The Takeaway
For contractors regularly pouring concrete, the PROMIX 100 Ltr and 200 Ltr buckets are not just attachments, they are cost saving tools. With payback measured in hours rather than months, the PROMIX range delivers immediate financial and operational benefits on site.
